Renowned explorer Admiral Richard Byrd wore a Croton during Operation Deep Freeze, a 1955 expedition to the Antarctic. Many watch companies quickly rose to meet that challenge, including Croton. The mid 1900’s were a time rich with exploration and adventurers had very specific requirements for their watches. The components were being manufactured in Switzerland, but the watches were assembled in the Croton, NY factory leading Croton to be regarded as an American watch brand.
They relocated to New York City in 1928 and finally settled in the Hudson Valley town of Croton, New York in 1963. CROTON CHRONOMASTER WATCH SERIAL
This example, reference 105/903006, with serial 8xxx, is in good condition, and all its components are conform. There are several variants, which are distinguished by different colors of dials, and white or unpainted hands. It features a stylized Croton logo on a rare panda dial, and white (hour and minute) and red (chronograph seconds) baton-type hands. The present model was manufactured at the end of the 1960s. The models fitted with the Landeron 248 caliber are the fourth representatives of the Chronomaster dynasty (after the Venus 210, the Valjoux 92 and the Valjoux 23).

It is a rare model that features the Valjoux Caliber. The Chronomaster model was first imported with the name association Croton Nivada Grenchen, then with the name Croton only.
